America's Cup is considered by many the most prestigious regatta and match race in sailing, and the 1930's were considered to be the Golden Age of yacht racing. America's Cup actually predates the modern Olympics by about 45 years. The Sparkman & Stephens design team was one of the greatest and designed many America's Cup yachts. We house three of their models – The Ranger, Constellation, and Colombia.Blithe Spirit was a 44ft racer/cruiser built in 1940 and designed by Sparkman & Stephens. Some of our America's Cup models can be found in our upper deck, though they are smaller models built from a kit. They are made with resin hulls rather than standard plastic or fiberglass.
