Jimmy Frost
Jimmy Frost, our very own Master Shipwright, has either built or restored all the models seen at The Original Benjamin's. However, these aren't your little brother's model ship kits! Jimmy handcrafts his models and prefers them to be on a large scale, like our 18 foot Queen Elizabeth II.
Americas Cup
Our America's Cup Collection includes three models whose original designs were by Olin Stephens, one of the founders of Sparkman & Stephens Designs. Around the restaurant you can see Jimmy's models of the Ranger, Constellation, and Colombia.
Schooner Series
One fascinating collection you'll find here is our Schooner series. Jimmy begins each model with a drawing and normally within one year can see the finished product, though he loves to go back and add details after it has been on display. Although many people believe that the ships are made of wood, Jimmy actually molds fiberglass hulls, which is quite a lengthy process.
The Mayflower
Located in our upper deck, you can view a model of the Mayflower. Our model was featured in the 1952 film Plymouth Adventure. The model is actually a third of the size of the real Mayflower.
Naval Fleet
With great honor and respect, the United States Navy is remembered here. Many warships can be found on Jimmy's draft table..
The Ocean Liners
Two of our most impressive ships are the Queen Elizabeth, reaching an incredible 30 feet, and the Queen Elizabeth II, a very detailed 18 foot ocean liner. On a much smaller scale you'll find the Titanic, SS France, Mauritania, and many more.
